FRIDAY NIGHT OYSTERS

FNO final

And so it is that we come to the end of the oyster season – just another few weeks of glorious bivalves and then you’ll have to wait until autumn.

To celebrate – or commiserate, we’re not sure which – we’re throwing an oyster party on Friday November 7 from 6.30pm at Michael Lett’s newish gallery just off Karangahape Road, along with our good friends from Mahurangi Oysters, Catalina Sounds and Sabato. There will be a mountain of oysters and plenty of Marlborough sauvignon blanc.

Tickets are $36.50 and are available via this very handy PayPal link. We’d love to see you there!

Yes, there will be wine, thanks to our kind friends at Catalina Sounds and their terrific sauvignon blanc.

How would one define “mountain”? Is this a small and somewhat delicate personal climb of your own oyster mountain, or a first in first served suck- it – back and claw your way to the top to get as many oysters as humanly possible before anyone else type of mountain?

I’m personally a every mountain is a personal battle type of lass, so I gotta wonder if this type of mountain is for a gal like me, ya know?

    Thanks! x

It’s definitely a collective mountain. Put it this way, the last time we had an oyster party, the oyster farmers went home and left us with a knife and a pile of oysters… I’m pretty sure there will be plenty. Though we do like to encourage enjoyment in moderation of what is a limited resource, in the company of some varied and interesting people… So we’d rather people didn’t come and hoover as many as they can!
